The Dominican Development Group has enrolled as an eligible charitable organization in the Amazon Smile program. This program allows charitable organizations to receive 0.5% of the price of eligible items purchased through the Amazon online site at no additional cost to the purchaser. Tens of millions of products on AmazonSmile are eligible for donations. You will see eligible products marked “Eligible for AmazonSmile donation” on their product detail pages. For more information on the Amazon Smile program, go here: http://smile.amazon.com/about/
Bill Kunkle, the Executive Director of the DDG explained, “these additional funds will allow the DDG to support its current operations and to consider expansion into new programs, all in support of the Episcopal Diocese of the Dominican Republic.”
The DDG operates on a very low administrative budget based on contributions from the companion dioceses, the board members, and interested individuals. One hundred percent (100%) of the money sent to the DDG for use in the Dominican Republic is transmitted to the treasurer of the Dominican diocese without any administrative overhead charge.
“I like the Amazon program because it is a well-known, established charitable program that costs the donor nothing extra,” said Bill Kunkle.
Anyone with an Amazon account can designate the DDG to receive these contributions by following these four steps:
1) Go to https://smile.amazon.com and log in with an Amazon account name and password (see red box below):
2) Enter “Dominican Development Group” in the “pick your own charitable organization” area (see red line below):
